Help Find and Destroy Invasive Weeds with Google Maps.

Whether you live, work or play in the west, noxious weeds threaten many of the natural resources that you have come to appreciate, value, or depend upon for your livelihood. By interfering with natural processes, native species, and management of our lands, these aggressive, nonnative plants are rapidly changing the face of America's landscapes.

In addition, these unwanted invaders continue to slow state and local economies, alter the composition and structure of native plant communities, diminish opportunities for recreation, and destroy valuable wildlife habitat.

Whether you are a homeowner who wants to maintain the beauty and character of your community; a recreationist who enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hunting, fishing, rafting, cycling, or hiking; a citizen who cares about the native plants, wildlife, or our natural heritage; or a farmer/rancher who wants to preserve the productivity and health of the land, noxious weeds severely threaten your way of life and the natural resources you value.

We have created a Google Map for people to report weed infestations and alert others about were to find them. For those people who want to help remove or destroy invasive weeds, they can locate infestations and report back about control efforts.

HOW TO GET STARTED:

1. Go to the Google Map by clicking on "view larger map" at the bottom of the map on this page.
2. Look for 'sign in' at the top right of the page.
3. Sign in as: invasiveweeds@wellsrawls.com
4. Password: weedsidaho
5. Click on Invasive Weed Locator above.
   
6. Click EDIT to add your location or report about eradication efforts of a location listed on the map.
7. Look for the blue droplet shape at the top center of the page.
8. Click and drag the droplet icon to the location on the map.
9. Report location, directions, type of weed, GPS coordinates (if available), date, and size of infestation.

The Idaho Weed Awareness Campaign has built one the finest websites of its kind for information and identification of noxious weeds in Idaho. It is complete with photos, control information and even video of noxious weeds in Idaho.
